The theme for this month is Beliefs. I have recently discovered “This I Believe” on National Public Radio. Over the next month, I will be revising my list of “this I believe” into essays which I will submit. Whether you take the time to read the essays on the website or write your own list or essay, you can find great value in looking more closely at beliefs. Our beliefs create our reality. Getting clear about what you believe brings clarity about what you are creating in your life.

This I believe…

That people are good, really good and when they don’t act like it, it’s because they don’t know how to do any better AND they can change and grow.

That we can all change and grow and one way to accelerate this change is to do it in partnership and community.

That we are each here for a purpose…a special, unique calling that is just the right blend of our talents, gifts, and a need in the world.

That plants and animals are living beings as well and the more respect and love we show them, the more in harmony we will all be able to live on this planet.

That the Earth is a gift not to be taken for granted. That our planet needs our love and care. That any and all efforts taken on behalf of our beautiful planet make a difference.

That each of us makes a difference. We all have impact. It is up to us to be intentional and responsible for our piece and our effect on others.

That hiking through the Enchanted Acres of Big Creek (my home) with my dog, Strider, brings heaven to earth…and is a form of prayer and meditation for me.

That there are many paths to the “center” and it is not for us to judge one another’s choices, but to make the best ones we can make for ourselves and encourage and support others to do the same.

That our beliefs really do create our reality and often the “answer” is as simple as looking at something in a different way. So, it is important to be intentional about how we think of things, people, ourselves…for repetitive thoughts are manifested in the life we are co-creating with the Universe.

That children have a special connection to divinity until they “unlearn it”. That it is our responsibility to provide a safe space for them to hold to their connection with the sacred and what might appear as their “own little world” for as long as it serves them AND to teach and encourage them to live with joy in the world we share as well.

That if mothers ruled the world; we would see a dramatic decrease in poverty, homelessness, violence, crime, and addiction.

That it is possible for each of us to adopt a “mother perspective” on world affairs…everyone is someone’s child or parent or friend. We all matter. Life is precious.

Do what you believe in and believe in what you do. All else is a waste of time. –Nisargattata

Challenge of the Month:

Write out a list of your beliefs. Next to each one, rank how well you honor this belief in your daily life with 1 being low and 10 being high. Challenge yourself to increase your scores each week for 4 weeks.

For those who believe that they or any unlimiting beliefs they have are the only things in the way of who they want to be and what kind of life they want to live, contact me at sarah@treeoflifecoaching.com to set up a complimentary coaching session.
